First Timers Program

The term “First Timer” shall apply to any Lion/Lioness member attending his or her first Mid-Winter Convention.

The First Timer program will consist of a booklet in which the participant answers questions and obtains signatures of Past and Present International Officers, past and Present MD5M Officers, Past and Present District Governors, Current Lions and Lioness Club Presidents and Club Secretaries of District 5M4.  Each First Timer will also receive a “First Timer” badge, and can be worn throughout the convention.

The purpose of the “First Timer Program” is to encourage new attendees to get acquainted with other Lions and Lioness and it is hoped that through the encounters made as you complete your booklets, many new friendships will be made, as well as a sharing of ideas which you can take back to your home clubs.

The First Timer program booklet will be given out at Friday’s registration.  First Timers will have until 10:30 P.M. Saturday to turn booklets in for judging.  There will be no obtaining signatures allowed during business meetings or banquets.

Judging will be done by Bird Island Lions Club.  The judges will award a 1st 2nd and 3rd place prize, and the winners will be announced on Sunday morning at the Brunch.

The first place winner will have the cost of his or her Hospitality Package for this convention refunded, and receive a $5.00 discount off the price of next year’s Hospitality Package at the Mid-Winter Convention.

The second place winner will have his or her Hospitality Package paid for the next Mid-Winter Convention.

The third place winner will have ½ off his or her hospitality Package in two years Mid-Winter Convention (2004).

The Club with the largest number of First Timers actively participating will receive a “traveling trophy”.  That Club will have the trophy until the next Mid-Winter Convention.

Past Club Winners:

Wendell

Bird Island

Hoffman

Ridgewater

We would like to encourage each club to bring their new members or Lions/Lioness that have not been to the Mid-Winter Convention before to come and participate.  It is a great experience in Lionism.
